This is to introduce my short fiction Vapyrean (vampire-ish) and MerSenian stories. These are not the usual vampires or mer-creatures everyone is used to reading or hearing about. But I do hope you’ll give my version a chance.
Thank you.
For those who are curious, the mer-creatures were created for my youngest daughter, who wanted to be a mermaid. The vampire books that followed her story which altered the MerSenians’ peaceful existence and changed their genetically spliced formula was for my only son.

Prologue from
Open Deception Book II
The Shadowers

Death by childbirth is Coralise Smith’s greatest fear. After having a narrow escape in high school as a rape victim then again many years later with an almost impossible to resist attraction at her father’s most recent funeral, which burying one’s father on a regular basis can really upset the balance of one’s mind, she knows she must escape men to reclaim her sanity and cheat death.
When her genetic splicing hobby is successful, she dubs it the MerSea Project, and prays it will preserve her life by avoiding men. Yet, there are minor details she needs to work out before taking it.
However, the longer she stays around her father, the more the deception builds and destroys her hopes. An offer presents itself to disobey her father, and the emotional weight of deception charms her to accept. However, the traditional after funeral drink leaves her waking several hours later to discover that MerSea is one of the ingredients from last evening’s snack.
Coralise and the twins quickly pack, hoping to escape three detectives, who will be furious when they discover the truth about The MerSea Project. The women agree to send a nice fruit basket and a heartfelt apologetic note as well as a friendly warning to the detectives to refrain from intercourse in merman form or they chance becoming pregnant.
Much later, after the chase and the physical cellular altering changes of their bodies, the hunt, the deliberate shootings, the capture and the escape, the pioneers of the MerSea project finally settle in the United States as government property. Their future is set, but with many unknown variables and with more than several gender issues. But, one man’s inquisitive nature about mermating changes history and roles for all future MerSenians.
However, as secret government weapons and agents, the MerSenians protect and defend not only the U.S, but also the oceans around the states, giving the U.S. an unfair advantage. The rumors lead to the media, which in turn upsets the U.S.’s neighbors. Nevertheless, during the time of the leak about the mer-creatures, a vial of the MerSea Project is stolen by and insider who is passionate about vampires. A new creature begins to make a public appearance. The new formula not only mimics a vampire’s ability to become invisible, causes skin sensitivity to sunlight, increase hearing, tastes and sense of smell, but also has a parasitic gene making its victim crave blood and grow fangs. It alters the victim’s DNA. As a result, instead of the MerSenian fishtail, the victim grows gargoyle-ish wings. These new creatures form a secret powerful underground nation later called Vapyre . . .
